Somewear: Back in the Classroom

My whole fam is starting back to school today: mom, dad, sis, bro-in-law, and aunt.  Basically, I’m the odd ball out here!  And though I haven’t been in the classroom since college, I can provide my family (at least the ladies) with an A+ outfit that will get them through the first day of school!  Shift dresses and low wedges are not only adorable classroom appropriate pieces, but they are comfortable at the same time which I know is key!  Happy first day back!

Somewear: Chihuly Night at the Dallas Arboretum

I’m so excited, because tonight I’ll be walking through the Dallas Arboretum viewing various dramatic glass sculpture installations created by artist Dale Chihuly. Chihuly creates free-standing sculptures, large-scale artwork installations and drawings, which have been exhibited at museums, gardens, architectural environments and galleries throughout the world.

For those of you in the Dallas area: his work will be up until November 5th.  Plus, Wednesday and Thursday nights are buy one get one free for the entire month of August!  For more info, you can visit the Dallas Arboretum.

For those of you not in the Dallas area: this DVF romper is on sale!  What!?!?  It’s so cute!

What to Wear When: It’s Your Last Day of Your Twenties

Well, this is it kids.  The dreaded doomsday has arrived.  I’ve reached my peak.  It’s over.  Goodbye beer bingers and hello Botox benders.  Things are about to get real up in here.  I’m turning 30!  But today I’m still 29 and I’m going to do it up 90’s style- a small tribute to my childhood/teen years.  You only live once: that’s the motto jigga YOLO!

Somewear: Blogger Meet & Greet

Yesterday local Dallas boutique, Tootsies, hosted a blogger Meet & Greet in preparation for an upcoming event they will be hosting at the end of the month.  (More details on that later, but if you’re in the area Save The Date for June 28th).  It was actually a wonderful way to spend a Sunday, because the store was closed and we had free rein to run around both floors and try on all of their fabulous clothes, shoes, jewelry, bags, and more.  Our quest was to come up with a killer outfit to wear on the runway during their June 28th event.  There is going to be a contest for the best dressed blogger, so very soon I’ll be asking all my followers to help me get out the vote!  Now, this outfit, isn’t the one I picked out yesterday (thought I did try the pants on there and they are so fun).  This is the outfit I feel I should have worn yesterday, instead of my typical lazy Sunday garb (so not STB of me)!  Anyway- next up is a photo shoot this Wednesday to show off my adorable outfit.  You guys are going to love it!  Oh- and side note- if you’re in the Dallas, Houston, or Atlanta area you need to hit up Tootsies ASAP, because they’re having an amazing sale!

Somewear: Hotel Villa San Michele Terrace in Fiesole

My girlfriend, Libby, who lived in Florence for a semester in college, told me that her absolute favorite place to visit was a little town called Fiesole which sat in the scenic hills just above Florence.  She said the view there was unreal and that I must go for a glass of wine (or two).  Well, I did one better with a dinner reservation at the beautiful Hotel Villa San Michele.  I want to get there early to sip outside on the terrace and watch the sunset over the magical city of Firenze!

Somewear: A.C. Milan Football Match

Apparently this game is on my husband’s bucket list.  Which means by default it has been added onto mine!  We’ll be attending the last game of the season today, so I’m sure the crowds will be out (all 80,018 of them which is what the stadium seats).  Of course, I’ll be donning the appropriate red and black colors and cheering loudly for my new fave European team, A.C. Milan! See ya on the pitch!

Somewear: Charity Luncheon

This afternoon I’ll be attending Dallas’s 24th Annual Luncheon and Fashion Show benefiting the Children’s Cancer Fund.  There is a live and silent auction, champagne reception and lunch, and a fun-filled fashion show where the children get to walk with local celebs, sports stars, and distinguished sponsors.  This will be my first year attending and I’m thrilled to be a part of it all.  For more info on how to get involved with CCF and their events in the future, check out their website here or “LIKE” them on Facebook here

Shakespeare’s Birthday Party

My former SMU gal pals have started a theatre company in LA called Little Candle Productions.  They are hosting a fundraiser tonight for their upcoming show, The Winter’s Tale.  What better way to raise money than by celebrating the birth of the playwright himself, Mr. Willie Shakes!  In case you were wondering, he would have been 448 today.  Now, if I know some of these gals like I do, there is a chance that they might just come in full Elizabethan garb (Allison).  However, if I were able to attend, I think I might go with just a slight nod to the era by sporting a dramatic ruffled collar and some show stopping jewels.  If you’re in LA, I’d highly suggest joining in the festivities tonight which will include Shakespeare themed libations and a trivia contest!  More info here!

Boboli Gardens, Florence

My last post on Central Park really got me in the mood for spring and has now inspired me to dedicate the rest of the week to beautiful parks and gardens around the globe.  Today I chose the Boboli Gardens in Florence where I will be visiting in less than a month!  I’m imagining in my near future a breezy sunny day strolling through the gardens with an Italian loaf and various cheese wedges in my tote!

Somewear: Flamenco Dinner in Madrid

As I mentioned last week, my girlfriend is leaving for Spain soon.  And just incase she gets pulled onto the dance floor, she needs to be ready!  I suggest she wear bold and bright colors and a fun flirty dress for a night she’s soon to never forget.

Willa’s Wares

There are very few gals I know that can keep up with my shopping stamina or my “passion for fashion”.  So, last year when I met the ever so stylish Willa Ford I knew we were a match made in couture paradise.  My clothing highs have never been so great, than when I’m sitting on the floor of her closet in a pile of newly purchased vintage sequin gowns and sky high designer stiletto pumps.  And even though she’s out in LA right now, we text daily about her latest shopping endeavors: a late night Shopbop bender, an unexpected Target run, an eBay bidding adventure turned fashion feat!  I just can’t get enough!  So, it got me thinking, why not take these fab finds and do a bigger show and tell with them!  Let’s take ‘em viral!  So, I decided to create a new post on STB called “Willa’s Wares”- showcasing her latest shopping escapades!  See here a new outfit perfect for easy breezy dinners out with friends in LA.

Somewear: Casa Mila Rooftop in Barcelona

My girlfriend will be traveling to Spain in April, so over the next couple of weeks I’m going to create a few looks for her trip!  One spot in Barcelona that she can’t miss is architect Antoni Gaudi’s famous building, Casa Mila.  The entire structure is exquisite, but the architecture and artistry on the rooftop is my absolute favorite part.  I’d suggest taking a cardi incase it’s cold in the morning, then warms up in the afternoon.  A low wedge and sunnies are also perfect for this type of sightseeing day!

Somewear: Beach Bar at the Hotel Gansevoort

My mother-in-law is in Turks + Caicos this week at the Hotel Gansevoort.  I wish I was there basking in the sun with her, but  I can’t complain too much about the California weather.  In beach environments it’s almost a sin to wear dark colors, so I found this stunning bright green number that I think would look great on her!  It’s beachy, but dressy at the same time which can be a tricky combo to pull off.

Somewear: Dinner at Salt House in San Francisco

My girlfriend’s flying to San Fran tomorrow from NY.  She wants to fit in with Cali’s cool laid back vibe, but still look chic for a dinner out on the town.  I suggested a breezy blouse and skinny jeans (a go-to for me when I want to look effortless, but put together).  She should go low key on the jewelry- nothing too glitzy.  And wedge booties always look adorable, but not too done up!  Now, I’ve never been to Salt House, but I checked out the menu.  Could someone try the Veal Sweetbreads and report back to me?  Thanks!

Somewear: Casino Party

Tonight I’m going to a casino party to help raise money for the Children’s Cancer Fund.  I need to bring my poker face, but I obvi need an outfit to match it.  My goal is to intimidate my competition with a little sparkle and flash.  If you’re in the area and want to grab a last minute ticket, check out the info here.  They will be selling at the door!  Come find me.  I'll be the one at the Texas Hold'em table with all the chips!

What to Wear When: You’re the Director and it’s Opening Night!

My mother’s a high school theatre teacher and the opening of her show is tonight!  I’ve taken it upon myself to give her a look for the occasion.  She always looks sharp in a blazer, plus they make her look legit, like she means business (show business, that is).  Since I chose a more black and grey palette for her, she needs pops of color and fun accessories to really take her look to the next level.  If any of you are in Broken Arrow and want to check out her show, she’s doing The Diary of Anne FrankMore info here!

Wine Pairing at Your Local Artisan Cheese Shop

I’m excited, because this evening I’m going to a wine and cheese pairing in my neighborhood.  I love the sophistication of this Friday night activity and my outfit mirrors that.  It's cool and chic, but not over the top.
