Somewear: 30th Birthday Bash

I made it another decade and to celebrate my husband is throwing me a party on Saturday.  Not sure what all will take place, but my goal will be to look fabulous.  This is a VERY close replica of what I will be sporting.  Ritzy and glitzy, I know, but as I said yesterday, YOLO.  It’s my new motto for my 30’s.  Deal with it.

Where to Wear: Pretty Pastels

I get it.  You’re not into that syrupy sweet, cute as a bunny, bright as an Easter egg look.  You’re afraid your take on the muted hues will come across as a “Paint by Number” experiment gone wrong, but it’s just not the case- not this season, anyway.  Now is the time to accessorize with the paler colors or even go head to toe in them.  Here’s where I think you can go wearing some of this spring’s softer shades!
  1. Weekend Brunch (Preferably Under a Shaded Umbrella with a Mimosa in Hand): Tibi Colorblock Blouse, $298 & Pants, $340
  2. Charity Event (Hypothetically with a Man in Tote who Wants You to Use His Money to Bid on Items You Want for a Good Cause): Christian Louboutin, Brooklin Clutch, Sales- $672.75
  3. Outdoor Shopping Center (Ideally on a Sunny Day with a Slight Breeze): Nanette Lepore, Gossip Print Shorts, $198
  4. Daytime Music Concert (Undoubtedly on The Lawn Lounging on an Oversized Blanket): Urban Outfitters, Risky Sunglasses, $12.50
  5. Late Night Dance Club (Theoretically in a Place Where Your Dress Can Get Lots of Twirls In): Pixie Market, Pastel Pleated Dress, $208
  6. The Office (Hopefully on a Day Where You’re Sure to Be Seen by Many): LOFT, Lace Overlay Ponte Mini Skirt, $69.50
  7. Church or Synagogue (Assuming you’re a GCB or perhaps a GJB): Zara, Court Show with Metal Toe Cap, $129

Somewear: NYE Wedding

This year New Year’s Eve happens to fall on a Saturday and what better way to kick off the new year then with a wedding!  A few of my girlfriends are going to one for a very special gal and guy I know back in NY.  (BIG CONGRATS to Katie Meyer- soon to be Katie Moor!!  I can’t wait to see pics!)  Anyway, I’ve been helping my girlfriends decide what to wear to the big event.  Surprise surprise- I suggested sequins!

Fancy Dinner Out to “Meet the Parents”

Sometimes the accessories just make the outfit.  Take a simple wrap dress and spice it up with bold jewelry, a fab bag, and stunning pair of pumps and you have taken that simple frock and transformed it into a showstopper.  All the accessories can be found at one of my favorite places to sell and buy new and used designer items: Designer Social.com. It is legitimately a one stop shop for the fashion and accessory-obsessed like me!

Somewear: Engagement Pics on Top of The High Line

My girlfriend, Katie, is getting her engagement pictures taken this week.  I like this outfit for her, because it is super feminine and classic.  You don’t want to wear something too trendy, because these photos are going on your walls for years to come.  Solids and neutrals are usually safest, and I just couldn’t resist the bride-to-be “I do” necklace- so adorable!

Somewear: Birthday Lunch at 4510 on Flag Day

Today is my girlfriend, Libby’s absolute favorite holiday: Flag Day.  Coincidentally enough it also happens to be her birthday!  Libby always likes to dress the occasion, but on this day- well, it really takes the cake.  The girls are all having lunch at 4510 to celebrate and what better way for her to really steal the B-Day girl spotlight than with this adorable number!  It gives a slight patriotic nod to the flags, while at the same time making a memorable statement with bright and cheerful accessories!
