What to Wear When: It’s Your Last Day of Your Twenties

Well, this is it kids.  The dreaded doomsday has arrived.  I’ve reached my peak.  It’s over.  Goodbye beer bingers and hello Botox benders.  Things are about to get real up in here.  I’m turning 30!  But today I’m still 29 and I’m going to do it up 90’s style- a small tribute to my childhood/teen years.  You only live once: that’s the motto jigga YOLO!

Somewear: Hotel Villa San Michele Terrace in Fiesole

My girlfriend, Libby, who lived in Florence for a semester in college, told me that her absolute favorite place to visit was a little town called Fiesole which sat in the scenic hills just above Florence.  She said the view there was unreal and that I must go for a glass of wine (or two).  Well, I did one better with a dinner reservation at the beautiful Hotel Villa San Michele.  I want to get there early to sip outside on the terrace and watch the sunset over the magical city of Firenze!

Somewear: Lake Como, Italy

I made it to Italy!  First stop: Lake Como! Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful lakes in Italy, perhaps even the world, Lake Como, will be just the remedy I need after a tiresome overnight flight from JFK to Milan.  I plan on doing a lot of strolling down the waterfront, sipping wines by the pier, and soaking up the sun!

Rehearsal Dinner to Private Robert Earl Keen Concert

My girlfriend, Daniella, gave me quite the interesting task last week: to find a dress that
would be appropriate to wear to a fancy rehearsal dinner, but would also pair well with cowboy boots
for a private late night Robert Earl Keen concert.  I’m not what you would call a “country girl”, so
don’t even think for one second that I knew who Robert Earl Keen was or that I had any idea on how
to pair an adorably chic party dress with clunky, thick heeled cowboy boots.  However, after some
extensive research online and some folk-style serenading from my aunt and cousin I quickly got up to
speed and found the perfect ensemble for my girlfriend’s jam packed, yet fun-filled evening!

The Dress: Alice + Olivia, Melanie draped silk-crepe dress, $370

Bachelorette Party at Teddy’s in Dallas

There are really only a few times in your life when you are allowed to wear sequins, cubic zirconia, and a tiara together in the same look: when you’re 2 years old playing dress-up, any New Year’s Eve bash with a mirrored ball, and, of course where it is most appropriate, your Bachelorette party.  My soon-to-be sister-in-law is having her shindig down in Dallas and I am helping host it.  Should be a good time!

Somewear: Day Trip to Iguana Island

While in Turks, we have decided to take a mini-cruise to snorkel and check out Turks’ very popular Iguana Island, where (as I’m sure you can guess) tons of iguanas reside.  This outfit is perfect for sailing, but also exploring!  When prepping for a day out at sea, I must make sure to pack sunscreen, as well as the equally important SPF lip balm.  Now, I have my bag, my balm, and my bows and I’m ready to set sail!

Somewear: Evening Beachside Barbeque

Our hotel in Turks is hosting a BBQ on the beach tonight.  I can’t think of a better look than one with a mix of corals and blues, seashell accessories, and a raffia clutch.  This ensemb screams “summer in the sand”!

Somewear: Romantic Dinner at Anacaona

My husband and I are traveling to Turks & Caicos this week and the resort we are staying at has one of the dreamiest restaurants that I have ever seen. The dress code is “Resort Elegance” which I really feel like I can nail with this exquisite floral maxi, crystal flats, and ocean inspired jewelry.

Somewear: Yacht in the Mediterranean Off the Coast of Your New Greek Island

I hear, Greek Islands are getting cheaper by the day. I’ve asked my husband to look into getting one for us, but I’m not sure he’s taking me seriously. For now I’ll just stare at this picture and day dream.

    Somewear: First Anniversary Dinner

Thrilled to announce my sister and her husband made it through their first year as a married couple!  They are in Dallas this week to celebrate and tonight they will be going out for a special anniversary
dinner.  This look is so sweet and the colors are very romantic, which is why it’s so fitting for this special evening.  I, of course, couldn’t resist the sentimental heart necklace!  Hugs and kisses, XOXO, and all that mushy stuff!

Somewear: Bonnaroo with The Gregory Brothers

The beautiful and extremely talented Sarah Gregory will be performing next week at Bonnaroo, the 4 day music camping festival hosted on a 700-acre farm in Tennessee. (AKA- the modern day Woodstock.)  I wanted to give her a look that was casual, but fun and something that would keep her cool in the sticky summer heat.  When attending one of these outdoor concerts, you can’t help but dress with a bit of hippie influence, though I think the rosy lips will really separate her from the rest.  Not only will they pop on stage, but the girl looks absolutely stunning in a bright cherry red!

Calm and Collected, IndigoStrapless Dress, $39
Day Birger Et Mikkelsen, Nagas Necklace, $180
Urban Outfitters, Renewal VintagePlastic Bangle Bracelets, $18

Somewear: The In-Laws’ Lake House at Sunset

Though I won’t be visiting my in-laws’ place this weekend, I will be joining my sis and dining with her new in-laws.  I love this ensem, because it’s the perfect mix of “casual elegance.”  Rompers can be dressed up or down, but I’ve styled this one right in between by pairing a basic flat with dreamy geode goodness.

      Somewear: Lakeside Dinner with Friends

As Memorial Day quickly approaches, I can’t help but think of the fun festivities that will be
going on all across America.  This spot seems like somewhere I’d love to be; it’s simple, but
sublime.  The teals, earthy tones, and stones on the shoes are all reminiscent of the lake.  And I
couldn’t resist how perfectly these earrings matched the Moroccon inspired motif of the romper!
Bring out the beautiful purples in the print with a pop of color to the nails.  My sis and I both
love the one bangle look, so why not finish it off with this one, appropriately called “Make
      Waves."

      Somewear: Birthday Party Picnic

So, you’re a little overdressed to really frolic in the park, but listen-
you’re the birthday girl, so dressing down is out of the question.  But
you’re not completely impractical: a hat for the shade and flats for
the grass.  Plus, I’m sure you’ll be offered the VIP luggage seats,
      anyway.
