Somewear: “Bubbly Q”

Tonight I will be attending YTAC’s annual fundraising party “Bubbly Q”.  This will be my second time to attend since moving to Dallas!  All proceeds from the event will benefit YTAC’s 2012 beneficiaries: Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center, UT Southwestern Simmons Cancer Center, Baylor Hospital Sammons Cancer Center, and Parkland Foundation. If you live in Texas and want to get involved in a YTAC chapter near you, check out their website for more information.

Sadly, the event is sold out tonight, but this outfit sure isn’t.  It’s perfect for any night out this fall!

Somewear: 30th Birthday Bash

I made it another decade and to celebrate my husband is throwing me a party on Saturday.  Not sure what all will take place, but my goal will be to look fabulous.  This is a VERY close replica of what I will be sporting.  Ritzy and glitzy, I know, but as I said yesterday, YOLO.  It’s my new motto for my 30’s.  Deal with it.

Somewear: Pre-Shoot Prep

I went to my photo shoot yesterday at Tootsies!  Incase you need a refresher from my Monday post, Tootsies, a local boutique in Dallas, is hosting a blogger event on June 28th! 10 bloggers have been invited to “walk the runway” that evening.  Each blogger was asked to choose an outfit from Tootsies that best represented their current style.  The photo shoots happened this past Tuesday and Wednesday, and next week the pics will be posted on Tootsies’ website!  I’ll be asking my followers to vote for me online for the best outfit!  And as a little incentive, I’ll be giving away a $50 Tootsies gift card to one lucky follower who helps me spread the word online! (More details on that later).

Now, as for what I wore to the shoot, a few things were key.  I needed to come with clean hair, simple foundation, a fresh mani/pedi, and nude underwear.  These preparations prior to arrival were necessary to make the jobs of the make-up artist, hair dresser, and photographer a bit easier.  I also think wearing a button-down is key incase you get stuck in hair rollers and need to get dressed for the shoot.  Jewelry isn’t really needed, but you know me, I couldn’t resist a little flair!

Somewear: Kentucky Derby

A couple of my readers have requested a Kentucky Derby outfit.  Some ladies will be attending while others attending a derby themed party.  Nothing screams “I’m sittin’ pretty” more than a white dress.  Pair it with bright spring colors and you’re off to the races!

Somewear: Hump Day (AKA Another Wednesday)

Somewear: Hump Day (AKA Another Wednesday)
You can never have too many hump days!  That’s because one comes around every week!  I thought I’d do another Hump Day look to get us through, yet another Wednesday!

Somewear: “The Office” in Cabo

In Cabo there is a go-to dinner spot on the beach called “The Office.”  Every Thursday night there is a “Gran Fiesta Mexicana” with traditional music and folk dance performances.  It’s best to keep the dinner look “coastal casual” with cool blues and greens.  Since we'll be dining on the sand, I'm going to wear flats.  Plus, it will be easier for dancing under the stars!

Fashion Cents: NYE on a Budget

Fashion Cents: NYE on a Budget
The holidays can drain you of every penny you have and by NYE you’re swearing off ever spending money again, BUT you still need to look fabulous, so what do you do?  It’s time to put your bargain britches on and start scouring the racks for sales!  Here is some stuff that I found online!

What to Wear When: You’re Beginning to Look Like the Stuffed Turkey

I don’t know about you, but the holidays haven’t helped with my diet.  I won’t even get on the scale, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like what I saw.  To help me get through the next few weeks, I’m going to have to wear some stylish, yet comfortable muu muus.  I also recommend wearing distracting accessories.  Make people comment on your fab oversized necklace instead of your fat oversized belly.

Somewear: Les Miserables at the Winspear Opera House

I’m going to see Les Mis tonight and I can’t wait!  The music is amazing and I haven’t seen the show in years, PLUS, one of my friends is in the touring company.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you should always dress up for the theatre. Even if you wear pants or a jumpsuit, it needs to be cocktail appropriate.  No jeans, ladies!  If STB has taught you anything, please let it be this.

Somewear: Firm Christmas Party

My husband’s firm’s Christmas party is this weekend and I need a little sequins number.  I mean, what are the holidays without some sparkle?  These colors combined make a dramatic statement, but they are not so dramatic that they steal focus.  (It is technically my husband’s party after all.  I just hope to be his best looking accessory!)

What to Wear When: You’re the Director and it’s Opening Night!

My mother’s a high school theatre teacher and the opening of her show is tonight!  I’ve taken it upon myself to give her a look for the occasion.  She always looks sharp in a blazer, plus they make her look legit, like she means business (show business, that is).  Since I chose a more black and grey palette for her, she needs pops of color and fun accessories to really take her look to the next level.  If any of you are in Broken Arrow and want to check out her show, she’s doing The Diary of Anne FrankMore info here!

Rosh Hashanah Services

While in NY this week, I’ve been visiting with a lot of my Jewish gal pals who today are celebrating the Jewish New Year!  Mazel, ladies.  One of my Jewish besties told me that at Synagogue you must cover your shoulders, which is why I chose this little blue number.  It’s a conservative look that you could wear to work, if need be, then straight to services.  To all my Jewish followers, I hope your day is filled with lots of apples and honey, for a sweet new year!

XOXO,
  STB

Port Stop in Santorini, Greece

Santorini is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been and I’m jealous to report that my friend, Amanda, will be traveling there this week on her cruise through the Mediterranean.  It’s essential to bring your best camera here, as the view from every angle is exquisite.

Fancy Dinner Out to “Meet the Parents”

Sometimes the accessories just make the outfit.  Take a simple wrap dress and spice it up with bold jewelry, a fab bag, and stunning pair of pumps and you have taken that simple frock and transformed it into a showstopper.  All the accessories can be found at one of my favorite places to sell and buy new and used designer items: Designer Social.com. It is legitimately a one stop shop for the fashion and accessory-obsessed like me!

Somewear: Birthday Dinner at the Neighborhood Wine Bistro

It’s my birthday- time to celebrate!  I’m going to dinner with friends, so to really stand out as the birthday girl (in case anyone forgets it’s me) I’m going to need to wear a bright color that pops and a statement necklace (obvi)!  Can't wait for a big glass of vino tonight!
