Excessive Baggage: Packing for a Ski Trip

Travel blogger, Amy Jarczynski from Jetsetter Gypsy, reached out to me recently about her upcoming ski trip to the Fairmont Chateau on Lake Louise.  She thought her trip would make for another great Excessive Baggage collab, so I created a fun ski trip packing check list for her!  Of course, anyone who skis regularly knows about all the hard core ski garb needed to really get out there and hit the slopes, so I decided to skip the boring stuff, and focus more on the cute stuff– like your ski bunny outfit for the lodge or your cozy pjs for lounging in your room after a long day out in the snow!

Fashion Cents: Baby Shower

Fashion Cents: Baby Shower
My sis-in-law is having her baby shower this weekend.  And if you know her, then you know nothing would be more appropriate to sport to her shower than pink (her baby girl’s soon-to-be favorite color) and sequin animal print (my sis-in-law’s favorite color).  Plus, with as much money as I’m saving on this outfit I can afford to spend more on a fabulous baby gift.  Can’t believe in just a few short months, I’m going to be an aunt!

I’m so excited, because tonight I’ll be walking through the Dallas Arboretum viewing various dramatic glass sculpture installations created by artist Dale Chihuly. Chihuly creates free-standing sculptures, large-scale artwork installations and drawings, which have been exhibited at museums, gardens, architectural environments and galleries throughout the world.

For those of you in the Dallas area: his work will be up until November 5th.  Plus, Wednesday and Thursday nights are buy one get one free for the entire month of August!  For more info, you can visit the Dallas Arboretum.

For those of you not in the Dallas area: this DVF romper is on sale!  What!?!?  It’s so cute!

Boboli Gardens, Florence

My last post on Central Park really got me in the mood for spring and has now inspired me to dedicate the rest of the week to beautiful parks and gardens around the globe.  Today I chose the Boboli Gardens in Florence where I will be visiting in less than a month!  I’m imagining in my near future a breezy sunny day strolling through the gardens with an Italian loaf and various cheese wedges in my tote!

Easter Sunday

Somewear: Easter Sunday
There’s no reason to shy away from pastels and florals on Easter- especially when they’re such a fab trend right now.  This look works for church or brunch or even an Easter egg hunt!

Somewear: FUN.
Going to see the NY band, FUN., tonight at the House of Blues.  I’m super excited, not only because “I knew them in NY back when," but because I LOVE their music!  They’ll be on tour for the next few months- check and see if they’re coming to a city near you. Clickety Click.

Somewear: Couples Baby Shower for a New Adoption!

Somewear: Couples Baby Shower for a New Adoption!
My girlfriend called last night about what to wear to her baby shower that her college friends are throwing for her.  Since she is adopting, she doesn’t have to worry about finding cute maternity clothes.  With it being a couples shower held at her friend’s home, I told her she doesn’t need to go too dressy.  Wearing a cute top, skinny pants, and boots would be perfect.  She is not a super girly dresser, so I went with a nice mix of feminine and masculine.  I love the frilly lace top mixed with the riding boots and cross-body bag.

The Office Is Freezing, but you Need to Wear a Dress

I feel like every office in America has this problem.  It’s always freezing- even in the winter!  I like this, because it keeps you warm, but it’s still cute and feminine.  Always have some scarves at your desk; they’re great for layering!  And this lip balm is fab, because it helps with super dry lips (yet another effect from staying in the office for too long).

VIP Tents at the Santa Barbara Polo Club

My girlfriend, Betsy, will be working as a vendor in the tents this weekend, selling new and vintage designer jewelry.  She needs to look sharp and stylish, but somewhat basic in order to model various jewelry pieces throughout the day.  I love the color red, because it not only looks great with her hair, but with any type of jewelry she’s bound to put on.

The Neighborhood Ice Cream Social

I thought events like this only happened on Wisteria Lane, but apparently they are real things and my friend, Joker, is going to one with her little girl this weekend.  Now, Joker probably has about 75 rompers in her closet, so when I found this one, I just couldn’t resist.  I mean, she was rocking rompers way before the Conde elevators were swarming with them.  And, it seems only natural that her little lady would sport one, too!

Where to Wear: Leather Shorts

Let’s face it, most ladies would be sent home, if they tried to sport leather in the office and biker-inspired shorts on a first date may come off as a little too Rihanna “S&M” intense, so how and where can you sport these tiny, yet major statement pieces?  Well, I’ve got a few ideas…
  1. First Day of College (Be proud that you no longer have a dress code to abide by!): Madewell, Leather Soundstage Shorts, $198
  2. Cocktails with the Ladies (Pair with a loose silk button-up blouse & heels): Alice + Olivia, Cady Cuffed Leather Shorts, $396
  3. Opening Party for a New Club (Be seen on the scene): Marc by Marc Jacobs, Black Leather Shorts, $257
  4. Backstage to Meet the Band (Obviously- this is a no brainer): ASOS, Metallic Leather Diamond Stich Shorts, $104 Nob3J0L1Byb2Qv
  5. Business Lunch in the Conde Nast Building (I couldn't resist.  It's my old stomping grounds and perhaps one of the only work environments where it's actually required to own a pair): Gryphon, Brown Leather Shorts, $156

Somewear: Day Trip to Iguana Island

While in Turks, we have decided to take a mini-cruise to snorkel and check out Turks’ very popular Iguana Island, where (as I’m sure you can guess) tons of iguanas reside.  This outfit is perfect for sailing, but also exploring!  When prepping for a day out at sea, I must make sure to pack sunscreen, as well as the equally important SPF lip balm.  Now, I have my bag, my balm, and my bows and I’m ready to set sail!

Somewear: Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic

A few people I know are attending this match on Sunday in New York.
Though in the UK, hats aren’t worn during traditional polo matches,
in the US it’s more than ok; it’s practically required.  It’s all about
looking leisurely and pristine, so carry with you a lightweight scarf even
if you won’t need it.  You can dangle it behind you which will give you
an even more carefree appearance.  And, of course, do your
research ladies: Marc Jacobs is one of the co-hosts, so dress to impress!
