Somewear: Wine Tasting Birthday Bash in Napa

My girlfriends are traveling to Napa to celebrate a friend’s 30th birthday and they weren’t sure what to wear.  A couple things I would like them to remember: a few “tastes” can add up to a few glasses, so be prepared to take a few spills, both onto your clothes and perhaps onto the floor.  I suggest rose colors to hide the evidence and flats to ease the fall.  Have fun and send me a bottle of your favorite!

Somewear: Holiday Office Party

I love this outfit, because it’s simple, classic, and refined.  It really works for any holiday occasion, but especially one in an office setting.  It’s business appropriate, but festive at the same time!

New Orleans Wedding at the Peristyle & Jazz Band Reception at the House of Blues

One of my followers, who also happens to be an amazing florist in Tulsa, (The French Bouquet- check her out if you want to see first-hand floral brilliance) is going to a wedding in a few weeks in N’Awlins.  Given that this city has so much style and culture and is the legit birthplace of all things jazz, I felt like she needed something vintage inspired, lacey, and romantic with just a few touches of sparkle and glitz.  Plus, she's French, so this look has a certain-  oh how do you say it... je ne sais quois about it which is compelling and alluring all at the same time!

Where to Wear: White Lace Dresses

I’m seeing white lace dresses everywhere, but let’s be honest you can’t wear them to summer weddings or barbeques.  So, as you sit there staring at the computer with your favorite lacy frock saved in your shopping cart, you find yourself desperately trying to justify this seemingly impractical purchase; where can it be worn?  Well, don’t you ponder any longer, because I’ve come up with five places where this summer trend is essential!

  1. The Theatre (Perhaps to see “Anything Goes”): BHLDN, Carnaby Crochet Mini, $320.00
  2. Baby Shower (Sans babies): Lafayette 148, Floral Lace Strapless Dress, $314
  3. Outdoor Flea Market (Or any Saturday): VaVa by Joy Han, Lace Ruffle Dress, $85
  4. Beach Vacation (Last Night Out): Foley + Corinna, Bardot Dress, $395
  5. Dinner Boat (or Champagne Tasting on a Yacht): Imitation, Kiki Dress, $295

Somewear: Pop-Up Baby Shower at The Ivy

My girlfriend, Libby, is throwing a surprise baby shower at a brunch
today with her girlfriends in LA.  Though I won’t be there, this is
what I imagine she’ll be wearing when she dines alfresco within the
white picket fences and oversized umbrellas of the ever-popular Ivy
restaurant.  It needed to be a laid-back ensemble; it is LA after all.
And short shorts are Libby’s casual go-to.  I love the pop of bright
pink mixed into an otherwise pale colored palette and the lace and
bow accents are just an understated reminder that a baby is on the
way!  What’s hidden inside the oversized tote: balloons, confetti, and
special treats for the mom-to-be.  What a divine look for such a sweet
celebration and not a bad way to meet The Divine either.  Who
knows- he may be seated next to them right now!  (The Ivy’s just that
good).
